Lesson 5 - Sorting Polygons

To encourage students to have fun on the Web while learning about Sorting Polygons, here are some games and interactive activities they can do on their own or in pairs.

Sort polygons by line symmetry.

Instructions for Use

Constructing Symmetrical Shapes is an interactive activity that allows students to construct 2-D shapes with one line of symmetry.

To use Constructing Symmetrical Shapes, click in the grid on the 'Object' side. Click on the grid button to show the reflected image. Use the direction button to move objects up, down, left or right, on the 'Object' side of the grid. Click on the grid button to show the reflected image on the grid.

To change the direction of the line of symmetry, click the star button. The lines of symmetry can run horizontal, vertical and diagonal.

Click the 'Reset' button to start again. Click the 'Quit' button to exit the program.

 

Lines of Symmetry in Polygons lets students identify lines of symmetry in polygons.

To use Lines of Symmetry in Polygons, input answers in the text box and click the ' Check Answers' button.
