To encourage your child to have fun on the Web while learning about Constructing Polygons, here are some games and interactive activities they can do on their own or in pairs.
GoalConstruct polygons based on angle measures and side lengths.
Builds UponStudent Book pages 218-220 Instructions for Use
Polygons allows your child to measure the angles of polygons using an interactive protractor. To use Polygons, click in the protractor button to pop up the protractor on the screen. To move the protractor or rotate it on the screen, grab the small circle on the protractor and drag it. Set the number of sides for the polygon using the up and down arrows on the number button. Click the number button, to pop up a polygon. Click the up or down arrows of the yellow-triangle button to increase or decrease the size of the polygon. To measure the polygon, grab the protractor and move it over the polygon. Place the center base of the protractor on any point on the polygon. Align the base of the protractor with the side length of the polygon. Measure the angle of the polygon. Move the protractor to another length of the polygon and measure another angle. Click on any points of the polygon to change its shape. Click the 'Reset' button to start again. Click the 'Quit' button to exit the program.
Polygon Angle Applet allows your child to identify and classify regular polygons. To use Polygon Angle Applet , scroll down to find the applet.
